What Does Interior Painting Cost in Boca Raton?

Painting the inside of your home is one of the fastest ways to refresh a space. A tired living room or dingy hallway looks completely different with fresh paint. But how much should it cost? The price depends on the size of the job, the condition of the walls, and the quality of the paint. Here is a clear breakdown so you know what to expect.

What drives the cost of interior painting

Square footage. The bigger the job, the more it costs. A single bedroom costs less than painting the entire house. Most painters price by the square foot of wall space or by the room.

Ceiling height. Standard eight-foot ceilings are straightforward. Taller ceilings, like the vaulted or two-story ceilings common in South Florida homes, take longer, require taller ladders or scaffolding, and cost more.

Wall condition. Smooth, clean walls are fast to paint. Walls with cracks, holes, peeling paint, or water stains need prep work first. Patching, sanding, priming, and skim coating add time and cost. This prep work is essential though. Painting over a bad surface gives you a bad result.

Number of colors. One color throughout the house is the simplest job. Multiple colors in different rooms, accent walls, or two-tone schemes take more time for cutting in, taping, and switching paints.

Paint quality. Not all paint is the same. Builder-grade paint is cheap but does not cover as well and wears faster. Premium paints from brands like Benjamin Moore and Sherwin-Williams cover in fewer coats, resist scuffs and stains, and look better for longer. The paint itself is a small part of the total cost, so going with a premium product is usually worth it.

Trim and doors. Painting baseboards, crown molding, door frames, and closet doors adds to the job. These areas take more precision than rolling a wall, so they cost more per unit of area.

Rough cost ranges

Every home is different, but here are general ranges for the Boca Raton area:

Single room: A standard bedroom or living room with regular ceilings typically costs between $300 and $800, depending on size and prep work needed.

Full interior: Painting the entire interior of a typical three-bedroom home in South Florida usually runs between $3,000 and $8,000. Larger homes with high ceilings and extensive trim cost more.

These ranges include labor, paint, and basic prep. They do not include major drywall repair, wallpaper removal, or specialty finishes.

What is included in a professional paint job

A good interior painting job includes more than just rolling paint on walls. Here is what you should expect:

Surface prep. The crew fills nail holes, patches small cracks, sands rough spots, and applies primer where needed. This is the most important step. Paint only looks as good as the surface underneath it.

Protection. Furniture gets moved or covered. Floors get drop cloths. Fixtures, outlets, and switch plates get taped or removed. Your home should look the same when they leave, minus the old paint color.

Cutting in. The edges where walls meet ceilings, trim, and corners are painted by hand with a brush before the rollers come out. This takes skill and time, and it is where the quality of the crew shows.

Rolling. The walls get rolled with the finish coat. Most jobs need two coats for even coverage and a clean finish.

Cleanup. When the job is done, the crew removes all tape, drop cloths, and materials. They clean up any drips or spatters and do a final walk-through with you.

How to get the best value

Get at least two quotes. Prices vary between contractors. Make sure each quote covers the same scope: number of rooms, prep work, paint quality, and number of coats.

Do not go with the lowest bid. The cheapest painter is often cutting corners on prep, paint quality, or labor. A job done right lasts years. A cheap job peels and fades in months.

Pick your colors before the crew arrives. Changing colors mid-job wastes time and can add cost. Decide on your colors, get samples, and test them on the wall before the painter starts.

Ask about the paint. Find out what brand and line the painter uses. Ask how many coats they plan to apply. Two coats of premium paint is the standard for a quality job.

Bundle rooms. Painting multiple rooms at once is cheaper per room than painting one room at a time. If you are thinking about doing the bedroom now and the living room next month, doing both at once saves money.

When to paint

In South Florida, the biggest factor is humidity. High humidity can slow drying times and affect the finish. Your painter will know the best conditions for the job, but in general, painting during the drier months (November through April) can mean faster dry times and a smoother finish.

Interior painting can be done year-round since the AC keeps the air inside dry. Just make sure windows and doors stay closed during the job so humidity does not affect the fresh paint.
